Privacy, in plain English.
Petrichor is a small project. We collect as little as we can, we use it only to run Petrichor, and we never sell it.
What we collect
- Waitlist: your email address and, if you give it, your first name. If you joined through someone's share link, we note their share code.
- Contact form: your name, email address and message.
- Email to us: if you write to hello@petrichorpocket.com, we keep your message and our replies so we can follow up. Attachments stay in our mailbox, not in our database.
- Beta feedback: your answers (including your age range, if you choose to give it), the jar number from the QR code, and your email if you choose to give it.
- QR scans: when someone opens the beta page we record the jar number, the date and the country (from our hosting provider). No name, no email, no IP address.
- Site visits: see below.
We don't use advertising trackers, and this site doesn't set cookies.
Site visits
We count visits without cookies. For each page view we record the page, the site that linked you here (and any campaign tags in the link), your approximate location (city, region and country, from our hosting provider), your device type, browser and language, and how long the page was open.
To tell visitors apart within a single day, we make a one-way code from your IP address and browser using a key that's deleted every day. We never store your IP address, and once the key is gone nobody can work out who a code belonged to. Raw visit records are deleted after 13 months.
If you join the waitlist, send a message or leave feedback, we note how you found the site and which pages you viewed that day. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we don't record your visits at all.
Why
To tell you when Petrichor is ready to order, to answer your messages, to understand which posts and places people find us through, and to improve the product based on beta feedback. If you report a problem with a jar, we use your details to follow up with you about it.
Where it's kept
On Amazon Web Services in the United States (us-east-1), encrypted at rest. Emails are sent through Amazon SES. Email to hello@ passes through Cloudflare's email routing. Only the Petrichor team can sign in to see it.
Emails from us
Waitlist emails are about Petrichor: release news, new batches and the occasional update, a few a month at most. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can always just reply "unsubscribe". We record whether each email was delivered and which links were clicked. We don't track whether you opened it.
Deleting your data
Email hello@petrichorpocket.com and we'll delete everything we have about you.
Age
Petrichor is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
